u can't tell me nothing!

well today, we took our first exam of the semester! i was scared to death. i studied all weekend pretty much. you know how the first exam is. you don't know how the format of the test is going to be yet. well, after the test, the teacher went over the test and....*drumroll please*.... i got an 82% *doing the cabbage patch*! i know what yall thinking... yall thinking "dang.. that girl is the bomb"! lol. i never been more excited to get a B- in my life. its not an A, but it ain't a C either. we also had another test on medical terminology. i bet yall don't know what "ADL" means....(activities of daily living) or "BRP"... (bathroom privileges) or "HA"....... (headache). i pass that test with flying colors. :-)

anyhoo, in other news, i found out what hospital i will be doing my clinicals at. for my protection from psychos that come across this blog, i will not say what hospital it will be. however, i know i will be working with patients with infectious diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis. i know yall giving me the "yuck" face right now. lol. my clinical group had the same look on their face once we found out who we would be working with. its all good though. i'm excited about it! not everyone is cut out to be a nurse. you just have to be cautious and careful with blood. okay, thats enough of my babbling...be blessed.

Studytime!

Ok....well my first week of nursing school its over and i must say its going to be a long and crazy year!! i have classes 4 days out of the week and 3 hours a day! i will definitely be a busy woman. our first test is only a week away and it will cover alot of material. normally i'm used to half-assing through a course without studying until the day before the test. i always manage to make an A or a B but, that crap ain't going to work in this program. i try to study at least 2 hours a day but i might need to study even more than that. we also have a skills lab test next week. thats when you get tested on if you are able to dress a wound correctly on a patient. you have to do it on a real person as if you were a nurse. u get 2 chances to do it correctly, if you don't, you are out the program! wish me luck yall ! i know my hand is going to be shaking as i dress the wound.

anyhoo, in other news, i would like to wish everyone a happy martin luther king jr. holiday! i hope everyone (especially black folks) take the time to reflect on how much he has opened the doors for all of us to get the same respect as anyone else. its so crazy to me to think that 30 years ago, we were considered to be inferior to white people and therefore, didn't deserve the same privileges as them. have a safe king holiday and as always....be blessed.

GOODBYE 2005....!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! i just got back from church and decided i might as well post before i goto bed. it is such a blessing to make it to a new year. i had to say goodbye to bad relationships, negative people, friend who weren't really my friends, and all the baggage i carried around in 2005. i leave it there! i'm ready for new experiences and new life lessons of 2006!!

i pray that you all had a wonderful and safe new year! i don't know what is in store for me this year, but i ready for it... the good and the bad. well my new years' resolution for this year is to continue to grow in my faith , be a better person than the year before, to laugh more, to smile more, and don't stress myself over things i can not change. sometimes you have to just go with the flow, you know? i know God has some things coming my way this year. i really believe its going to be "my year". so buckle your seat belt folks, let the 2006 roller coaster begin..... :-)
be blessed.
